Once upon a time I was a beauty editor in New York City, and it was my job to play with makeup all day long and write about things like the best lip colors for autumn, foundations for dry skin, and eyeshadow palettes that won’t break the bank. It was a blast.
But coming from a background of disordered eating habits and a relationship with my body that was all kinds of complicated, focusing on that side of beauty, the “painted aesthetic” so to speak, was wearing on me - that, and an hour plus commute into then out of Manhattan five days a week. My interests changed, my dreams shifted, and I had to make a decision. It would be one of the biggest moves of my career thus far: I traded the city for the suburbs and joined the amazing health and wellness team of EliteDaily.com.
Now in my mid twenties, I reside in beautiful Bergen County of New Jersey with my lovely husband and the sassiest tabby cat. Over the years I’ve developed a passion for fitness, for the female anatomy, have been working towards leading a more balanced, healthy relationship with food, and recently the itch to blog all about it was just too prominent not to scratch. So, here I am.
Always, Julia Rose is my little piece of Internet dedicated to my figuring out what it means to be healthy and happy - not just in my body, but in life. Here, I’ll create recipes, share the products I’m loving, the workouts I’m trying, and document any other candid moments of my life that might inspire you to try something new, or see things from a different perspective.
But on that note, I’m not a registered dietitian or nutritionist. I am not a doctor, nor do I have a degree in psychology or anatomy. I used to be obsessed with finding my food and fitness labels, but have come to the conclusion that I’m neither vegetarian nor am I carnivorous. I’m not a bodybuilder or runner. I’m just me, and I’m still trying to figure out what all that means. Always, Julia Rose is my space to do just that, and I’d love it if you joined me along the way.
